How to Plan Catering for a Funeral, Memorial or Celebration of Life
Many of our San Jose families hold a celebration of life reception after a memorial or funeral service. It’s a wonderful chance for family and guests to comfort each other while sharing stories and memories.
With all the stress and grief that comes with a funeral, however, planning the food is often left until the last second.
To make it easier for you, we’ve put together these simple tips:
Select where and when you want to host it.
Consider how many people will attend and how accessible the location is. Some people prefer hosting it at their house, the funeral home, or at their church. Others decide to go with an outdoor setting such as a park.
Once you’ve selected a venue and date, we’ll handle the rest. For instance, we can pick up or drop off and we have staff and servers that can facilitate the service. We can also help you with tables, chairs, tents, china, linens, glassware and other equipment.

There’s no “wrong” thing to serve at a funeral reception. For example, you can serve either casual appetizers and drinks, a full meal or something in between.
